Weston Athletic Club charitable giving policy – Published February 2023
- Weston Athletic Club (‘The club’) generates surplus income during the course
of each year, much of which is donated to local charities. This document sets
out the club’s policy for charitable giving. - The club’s committee will agree which charities will benefit from the club’s
charitable giving for the financial year ahead at its last meeting of the
preceding financial year. - Any paid-up club member can nominate a charity to benefit from the club’s
charitable giving activities. These nominations should be made in writing to
the club’s chairman or secretary no later than 31 December each year to be
considered as a beneficiary in the following financial year. - Only charities registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales
will usually be considered as beneficiaries of club funds. They should also
either undertake activities which benefit the local community or be based
locally. Local and locally are defined as within the wider Weston-super-Mare
area. - Occasionally the club may also approve one-off requests for funding of other
beneficiaries if the club’s committee agrees that the funding will benefit an
activity which supports the club’s ethos. These nominations should be made
in writing to the club’s chairman or secretary at any time of the year for
consideration at the club’s next committee meeting.
This request and its agreement is acceptable to be communicated via email
if a committee meeting is not due in the short term
